See Beauty...™ Friday Feature | Anthony Robles; Beyond His Limitations

“My spirit is unconquerable, fearless I will face each foe, for I know I am capable.  I don’t care what’s probable, through blood, sweat, and tears, I am unstoppable.” – Anthony Robles (see the entire poem here)

One night I sat in my bedroom getting ready to say goodnight to the rough day I just had.  It was around 11:30 at night and I turned on the TV.  Jay Leno was showing so I left the channel where it was and continued to get ready for bed.  I was half paying attention to the show as Jay was in the middle of interviewing his guest.  It was some young looking guy and I didn’t know who he was.  I was less inclined to listen to the interview but then I heard him speak with such happiness and energy that I slowed down what I was doing and sat down to watch Jay interview this guest.  He had such a warm presence filled with positivity and an unforgettable big bright smile.  I looked closer to the TV and noticed that this person only had one leg.

I was really fascinated by this individuals story but since I tuned in about halfway through the interview I didn’t catch his name.  The next day I Googled him; it was Anthony Robles.  I still didn’t know who he was, “who his Anthony Robles guy?”, I said to myself.  Obviously he was important enough to land a spot on the Jay Leno show.  I later found that Anthony Robles is a wrestler.  Keep in mind that he only has one leg. Anthony was born with one leg but persevered from childhood throughout college to become the Arizona state wrestling champion.  Despite the numerous obstacles and the constantly having to prove himself, he is now not only respected as an undefeated wrestler but a role model to inspire others to see what is possible when you have a strong spirit and will to succeed.

His story amazes me and I wanted to share it with you here on today’s See Beauty…™ Friday Feature.  The story of Anthony Robles truly represents hope in a world of possibilities.  Despite our perceived weaknesses and doubts, we have the honor and duty to aspire to live passionately beyond our limitations.

What is a limitation that you have/had that you would not let get in the way of your dreams?
