Today Is Your Day

We have been given another day today; a chance to wipe the slate clean.  Every moment in time that you get is a blessing and a chance to start over.  Imagine that from day one, your life was already planned out till the day you die?  Now, most would argue that everyone does have a plan or a purpose in life.  And I agree, but it's what you do with that plan that determines how you live your life.  I just finished reading a book called Vision Mongers by David  duChemin, and it wasn't until the very last page that I realized the impact of this book.  A quote, "Life offers no rewards to the tentative, to those who tiptoe cautiously through life only to arrive safely at death". How refreshing is it to know that if you felt like it, you could start living your life differently?  At any given moment, right now, you could turn your situation around.  As you lift that cigarette to your mouth for a drag, know that you have it in you to put the cigarette down and walk away.  As you look outside on this sunny day wondering if you should go for a jog because you want to be healthier.  Know that the time is now all you have to do is take the first step. You life is yours, keep living and laugh along the way :).  Have a great weekend everybody!

Today Is Your Day

It is a wonderful feeling to know that each day that is given to you is a new slate; a chance to start over with fresh beginnings.  Always know that you have the power to change and make a difference in your own life; it starts today... "In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect whole, and complete, and yet life is ever changing. There is no beginning and no end, only a constant cycling and recycling of substance and experiences. Life is never stuck or static or stale for each moment is ever new and fresh. I am one with the very Power that created me, and this Power has given me the power to create my own circumstances. I rejoice in the knowledge that I have the power of my own mind to use in any way I choose. Every moment of life is a new beginning point as we move from the old. This moment is a new point of beginning for me right here and right now. All is well in my world.” - Louise Hay (Author)

Let's Just Talk

Happy Sunday! What's going on today? How are you?  In todays post, I just wanted to take a moment to talk with you; I mean really talk to you.  I want to know how your week went, whats new in your life, and if you want to vent about anything that's cool too.  Because today, this post isn't about a recent photo shoot or a display of a cool shot I just took; today I just want to talk and hear from the rest of you out there. So the weather is always a good topic to start a conversation.  May is finally here and you know what that means!  Some of you may be thinking "allergies".  Tis definitely the season where your allergies rage up and make your life miserable for at least two weeks.  Hang in there!  But what else does May mean for you?  Do you have a birthday coming up?  Making plans for Memorial Weekend?  Sniff, sniff; do I smell BBQ?!! Don't forget to invite me, lol. Are any of you making plans for travel this summer?  Ooohhh where are you going?  Tropical island or maybe a backpacking adventure in the mountains of California?  What are some of the most exotic places you've been in your lifetime?  My circle of friends are quite the travelers and have been to great places like Argentina, Holland, and even Panama.  I'm always fascinated to hear their stories of culture and the lifestyles of other countries.  I have tentative plans to travel to Thailand for my birthday next February when I turn the big three Oh! ( oh my).  As soon as I land in Thailand, I will ask for the nearest elephant conservation.  When I get there, I will pick the largest elephant and ask to ride her (yes the elephant will be a she).  As I get on top of her, the elephant and I will share an instant bond.  Something like in the movie Avatar, when you connect your hair piece to the animal and they instantly "bond".  Thats how I envision my first elephant ride in Thailand to be.  Don't laugh! lol.  What a great birthday that will be.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  :). And so I'd like to end by asking you, how has 2010 been treating you so far?  We're coming up on the 6 month mark, middle of the year, and I know that thoughts have started to creep in my head as to my personal progress this year.  Lots of you out there have set resolutions and promises to improve in certain areas of your life.  I've set promises for myself as well.  I just want to know the struggles that you may or may not be having just to see if I'm not the only one.   I think about my goals and progress pretty much every day and I can't help but think if I'm putting too much pressure on myself.  Waking up earlier, improving my photography, eating healthier; just to name a few.  I guess the best thing to remember is that we're only human and we can only do the best we can.  But when you can't honestly say you're doing the best at whatever it is you're working on, then I think it's time to go back and reassess things. Thanks folks for listening to my rambles today.  I'd really like to encourage an open dialogue here so if you'd like to comment on anything above or start you're own topic, please do!  One of the great things about meeting and talking to people is that you get to learn a wealth of knowledge just by hearing a different perspective. And last but not least, this post wouldn't be complete without a picture.  This is after all a photoblog :). **Oh and one more thing!  If you haven't heard yet there is a great new promotion going on on my Facebook page.  I'm on a quest to reach 200 fans.  If you haven't done so already, please join my page and share it with your friends, family, co-workers, your mailman, whomever; lol! The millisecond my page reaches 200 fans, one random winner will be selected to receive a complimentary shoot AND a $10 itunes gift certificate!!! How exciting is that?!! The winner could be YOU; spread the word people!! :):) xoxoxo**

What A Difference A Person Makes

People come into your life for one reason or another and they leave for a completely different reason altogether; we may never know why.  But ultimately, we are left either stronger, weaker, smarter, or confused from the impact they've had on us.   And no matter what, you will always learn something about yourself; from who you were before you met the person to who you are now.  It boggles my mind to know that every person that I've ever met has had an effect on me, whether it was big or small.  From my teacher in elementary school who encouraged me to try harder to the cashier at the supermarket that greeted me with a warm smile :).  The same can be true of the effect you had on the people you've met throughout your life.  What impression have you made on someone's life? Newest Addition to my family - Part II

Welcome to my new blog site, thanks for checking it out! I thought I'd start off with a part two of my previous post, Newest Addition to My Family.  To read that post first, click here: /?p=5 Have you ever had a family member that you grew up with?  Someone that you could reminisce about old times 15 years ago?  Well for me, that person is my cousin, O'Neal.  During family get togethers, he and I, as well as my other siblings and cousins would talk about our childhood growing up in NYC and spending summer vacations in Jamaica to visit with Grandpa; we had stories that would last for hours.  That time was so long ago and it surprises me to see how we've all grown up.  We are all living the adult life, working, creating a home, and starting families. Two weeks ago, I got to spend some time with O'Neal, his wife Jo Elizabeth (or Jo as we all call her), and that oh so cute amazing little one, Jace.  We set up a photo shoot right in their home to really portray their strong family bond in an intimate setting.  When I arrived at their home, I found O'Neal and Jace fast asleep on the couch.  A truly perfect father and son moment.  I quickly whipped out my camera to capture it. DSC_0001 So apparently these two were too pooped to do a photoshoot at the moment :). But I didn't mind.  I enjoyed watching little Jace sleep so comfortably and warm in O'Neal's arms.  Thats the thing with photographing a newborn, you have to adhere to their schedule, not your own.  What usually would've been an hour long photoshoot turned into around 2hrs, because we had to take breaks for diaper changes and feedings.  But I was along for the ride.  As their photographer for moment, I got to see a small chunk of the love this family shares for one another.  And how this tiny person has brought such joy and happiness to two wonderful parents. You'll see all the funny faces he makes throughout the shoot.  :) DSC_0025 See what I mean?  lol. Once you get past all his cute funny faces, you can really get lost in his eyes.  So bright and full of joy. DSC_0034 I watched Jo with her new son and it seemed as though time stood still as she played with Jace; nothing else mattered.  Not me, not the camera, just a mom and her son. DSC_0062a DSC_0075 DSC_0089 DSC_0092 Here comes daddy!  These pictures always get to me.  Sometimes I still can't believe O'Neal, the same cousin that I used to run up and down with on the playground and in the house causing all sorts of trouble when we were kids, is now a DADDY!!  Lol.  But it's so wonderful.  I'm so proud of him. DSC_0226 DSC_0231 DSC_0234 DSC_0276 DSC_0271 I want to leave off with these last family portraits; they are really my favorites because well, they're my family and I'm so proud of them but also because it really shows me how far we all have come. DSC_0242 DSC_0250 DSC_0256 Congratulations to Jo & Neal for a beautiful baby boy who's growing so beautifully.  We're not kids anymore (sniff, sniff) but I'm so proud of you guys.  Life can change so fast and so dramatically but I think it's a journey that no matter what path you take, will be so fulfilling and worth all the memories in the world.

The Newest Addition to My Family

On June 24th my family welcomed Jace O'Neal into the world. I can't describe the feeling I felt when I walked into the hospital room when I went to visit. My cousin, and proud new father, was holding him in his arms, gazing into his son's eyes with amazement.

I have never seen my cousin look so peaceful as he held his new son. I wanted to tell him how proud of him I was and that all the things that has ever happened to him in his life, lead up to this very moment. Welcome Jace O'Neal, your daddy loves you very much...
