Guitars & Sunshine - A Closer Look

Last week you met Tammie; awesome girl with a passion for music.  Here she is again in this short clip as she expresses what music is to her and how DETERMINATION can be a source of inspiration. [vimeo 12574088] This session was not only a chance for me to capture Tammie doing what she loves, but I learned so much about her and found myself inspired by her passion and energy.  This is an ongoing project for me and I'm always looking to meet new people.  So for those of you who are interested in a session and the chance to share your story, I would love to hear from you! As always, thanks for reading!

Guitars & Sunshine

I walked into the room of her sunny apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn and was instantly delighted at the piercing sunlight coming through the windows.  I thought, "perfect, this is exactly where we're going to shoot".  So she sat on the brown hardwood floors in the middle of her room, picked up her guitar and began to play... She smiled and  laughed while strumming the guitar; her energy was so infectious.  I watched and snapped away as the sun lit up the room and glimmered through her curly hair. Meet Tammie. I admire her passion and dedication to music; whether it's in the form of singing or playing an instrument.  There's much more to come on my session with Tammie where you can hear her story in her own words.  Stay tuned...

Inner Child

This past weekend was an interesting one.  After not getting my car brakes repaired (long story) I had some time on my hands so I ventured out to the West Village, NYC to see what type of retail trouble I could get into ;).  Lucky me, I stumbled onto a street fair; I just love street fairs!!  It stretched for about 3 blocks, packed with vendors selling  cool gadgets, nick knacks, and accessories.  So after I managed to snag me three cute headbands for my bad hair days and an awesome pair of vintage sunglasses, I saw this: This cute little boy was totally entranced by this jazz band performing.  The sounds of the cello, drums, and piano filled the air and drew a huge crowd.  But this little boy with his intense amazement of the band is what got my attention.   His mother (who was kneeling down next to him to his left) talked to him and touched him softly as he watched on.  But he wouldn't take his eyes off of the jazz band as they played.   He looks about 3 years old but the music almost seemed to hypnotize him, lol as funny as that may sound.  I got down low to his level so that I could relate to what he was seeing from his perspective.  His awesome yellow pants and colorful hat was so fitting. This is how things start with in us.  The connection that this little boy made with the band, the music, and the instruments can be the start of his passion towards music; hey, you never know!  That same fascination we have as kids doesn't die when we become adults.  Some of us just choose not to express it as much or acknowledge that it even exists. Let's take a trip and reminisce for a bit.  What was your fascination as a kid?  Do you remember the moment you totally connected with something or someone?  How did you feel? Keep dreaming and don't be afraid to bring those dreams to life!
